  LGS Class XXIII

Leadership Grand Strand is a program sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to develop a corps of informed, committed, and qualified individuals capable of providing dynamic leadership for the Grand Strand area.

Leadership Grand Strand's curriculum provides broad-based leadership perspectives to familiarize participants with the Grand Strand's needs, opportunities and resources.

The nine-month course, which traditionally begins with a retreat in September and culminates with graduation in May, explores topics such as historical aspects of the Grand Strand, tourism and economic development, education and law enforcement, human services, government and politics, and the arts.

Our goal is to construct an 1,100 square foot building on the grounds of the home for administrative offices and an education center. Currently the office is located within the building that house the girls and it can be very disruptive to try and conduct business in their living area. This new facility will provide an education center that will greatly enhance the learning environment. Currently, the children's study area is located in the play room, and obviously not very conducive to studying. This project will also allow the Shelter Home to build an infant room in the existing girls’ facility, once the office space has been relocated to the new building.

LGS Class XXIII is currently seeking corporate sponsorships and donations to assist in the project. Also, several fundraising events are planned, including a golf tournament at Belle Terre on February 22 and a “2nd Chance Prom” at Revolutions on March 8. Please see the complete list of fundraising events in the left bar of this page and help us with a donation so that we can bring this needed project to fruition. Your support is greatly appreciated!
